Must Watch Bollywood High School-ish Movies!
Ask anybody what their favourite phase of life was, and odds are you`ll hear `school` in unison. And why not?
Don`t we all reminisce the time when we had no obligations, no responsibilities, lots of fun, and well, little bit of pretending to study! Come on, admit it! That`s precisely why Bollywood has often made movies on this theme. You know, so that you can take a two hour break from your life, remember the good old times, and may be even feel compelled to catch up with your buddies! On that note, check out these 6 Set-Against-The-Backdrop-of-High-School movies, which would definitely take you back in time and tell you more about yourself every time you watch them.
Shot in the posh Doon Schools, this movie brought to light the joy and agony a boarder faces. A complexities and innocence of teenage friendships and first crushes & the entire movie was beautifully weaved around every teenage emotion, making it a must watch. Also, not to miss `Yaaron`, which is like the national anthem of friendship till date!
Have we ever wondered why a glass appears half empty to some of us while it looks half full to others? It’s just a matter of perception, we say. ‘Taare Zameen Par’ breaks the stigma attached with the differently abled children and leads us to give them a fair chance. Such movies leave a lasting impact on our psyche and help us immensely in bettering our judgement towards life. And in case, you forgot the message of the movie, just remember, every child is special.
Gippi:
A 2013 drama that focuses on knowing & beckoning individuality of a weighty girl is exactly the flick which you can watch with your childhood ‘moti’ even now & laugh out loud about it! When Gippi dons a yellow feather boa and a mad wig to shake wildly to Chahe Koi Mujhe Junglee Kahe, you can’t help but be thrilled at her liberating lack of feminine modesty that does succeed in giving us a heart-warming, almost believable Bollywood version of an Indian teenage world – and one in which hot boys and fat loss aren’t the answer to one’s troubles. I say, Yahoo!
There’s something very twisted yet relatable about the feel of this movie that deals with the sensitive topic of lost innocence in the noise of paparazzi & runway music, but remains a warm, endearing film even when it gets down to tackling the bitter truths of life. Simple but never simple-minded, this is a must watch as Sixteen doesn’t hold back!
Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikander:
A typical Bollywood Film that depicted the lives of school-going teenagers perfectly. It had drama, romance, heartbreaks and rivalry with the students of another school complete with song like `Pehla Nasha` which is still the anthem of first crushes for everyone!
Hopefully by now everyone has settled into the new school year routine. In between school pick ups and drop offs, extracurricular activities, parent meetings and homework help, life can get incredibly hectic – but when you add in the Bollywood imagery of a disco prom sequence, a fiery sari-clad teacher like Sushmita Sen, or a gruff (and dare I say, rather Severus Snape-like) principal like Amitabh Bachchan, school days suddenly seem more fun!
