“Chillar Party” Bollywood Children Movie Directed by National Film Award Winner Nitesh Tiwari

Chillar Party is the story about a gang of innocent but feisty kids who lead carefree lives in Chandan Nagar colony takes on the big bad world of politics when one of their friend's life is endangered.

Chillar Party is a Bollywood Children movie directed by Nitesh Tiwari and Vikas Bahl and produced by Ronnie Screwvala under the UTV Motion Pictures and Salman Khan under his SKBH Productions (Salman Khan Being Human Productions). The film has a multiple-cast of debuting child-artists particularly named after movies such as, "Silencer", "Aflatoon", "Shaolin" etc. It also features Ranbir Kapoor in an item-number. Chillar Party won the 2011 National Film Award for Best Children's Film.

The director of children’s film Chillar Party Nitesh Tiwari won the National Film Award for his co-directorial venture and was regaled by mo-goers for his second children’s film ‘Bhoothnath Returns’. He finds the appreciation encouraging to boost his confidence to make more children’s film. He believes there is a scarcity in good children’s films in India but with the audience reaction to films like Chillar Party, he sees a silver lining in this and is trying to make more such films. “There is a dearth of children’s films in our country, but the scenario is changing slowly. And that’s a welcome sign. Success of more kids’ films is encouraging more producers to put money behind such projects. But we still have a long way to go,” the director stated.

“I don’t make films to win awards. If awards come my way, great! What’s more important is having a feeling that there are many people who are willing to put their money behind edgy stuff. And there is large enough audience which is willing to embrace such stuff and make it a success,” he said. The movie won the National Award for best children’s film of Bollywood and the nine kids shared the best child artist award along with Partho Gupte from Stanley ka Dabba, another film based on the life of a school kid.

Chillar Party’ came my way and it was too good for me to say no. I would like to thank Vikas Bahl for showing faith in me and pushing me to take the plunge. Fortunately, I haven’t faced any difficulties in making any of my films,” said Tiwari. Before stepping into the film world, he was an ad director and has directed ads for brands like Glucon D, Tide, Amul, CEAT, Kaun Banega Crorepati and McDonalds.

While talking about the difference between ad films and feature films, he was pretty clear and stated, both come with their own set of challenges,” Tiwari said, adding: “The biggest challenge while making an ad film is the pressure of telling a story within a very short duration. You need to shoot it with precision because every second matters. Apart from focussing on getting the performances right, you need to get them right within the planned duration. In a feature film, this pressure is not there and you can purely concentrate on getting the performance right.”
